Agitation against unreasonable power cuts

Loksatta under the leadership of Mr. Babu along with local garment industry workers held a candle light protest near Gandhi statue against unreasonable power cuts effecting everyone in the reason. He reiterated that the garment industry employees who live as daily wage workers are loosing work. Also, children are prone to diseases due to mosquito bites at nights. He criticized the Congress government of not living up to the promises it made to the farmers about 7 hour power to the fields. He urged the government to take up immediate steps to help the situation.

Surajya Udyama Sadassu in Kondapuram village

Loksatta under the leadership of Babu garu organised Surajya Udyama sadassu in Kondapuram village in Rayadurgam. He educated villagers on their fundamental rights and  how they can better utilize the services of the government. He reiterated the importance of Surajya Udyamam and why everyone should take part in the movement. He raised the need for empowerment of local governments and how they can solve the issues of local people. He urged everyone to be a part of the movement.

Surajya Udyamam in Poolakunta village

Loksatta Rayadurgam started Surajya udyamam in Poolakunta village under the leadership of Babu garu. A meeting was held in the village to understand the problems of the villagers. Babu garu talked to the villagers and reiterated the importance of surajya udyamam to curb corruption in the society. He said devolution of power to local governments, empowerment of citizens and establishing a political culture that is free from criminals and political dynasties is needed for attaining a surajyam. He called on everyone to join the Surajya movement to  help realize a corrupt free society.

Roundtable conference for Surajya Udyamam

Loksatta party under the leadership of Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu, held a roundtable conference in Rayadurgam to discuss the Surajya Udyamam. Leaders from all parties including Congress and TDP and various organizations like AISF, Farm Laborers Association, Pensioners Association, Prajapragathi samrakshana sangham and many leaders from Loksatta Rayadurgam participated in the discussion. Loksatta state convener Bandaru Ram Mohan, talked about the importance of honest politics and agenda of Surajya Udyamam. Leaders from all parties and organizations welcomed the movement as an important step forward in realizing a corruption free state.

Surajya Udyamam kick started in Rayadurgam…

Loksatta Rayadurgam convener, Babu garu,  formally started the Loksatta Surajya campaign in Rayadurgam.

The aim of the Surajya campaign is to:

  • Eliminating the pervasive and monumental corruption from our society and replacing the notoriously kleptocratic governance culture with a truly citizen-centric one
  • Establishing a political culture that is free from criminals and political dynasties
  • Ensuring equitable access to quality education, healthcare, and employment opportunities to every citizen irrespective of their position at birth
  • Elimination of societal discrimination based on caste and creed, and providing genuine opportunities for vertical growth to all sections of society
  • Ensuring true devolution of power to local governments, and empowerment of citizens
  • Ensuring access to speedy and affordable justice to all sections of society and restoring the rule

Government Should Buy Paddy Directly From Farmers

Loksatta Rayadurgam convener and Independent Farmers union president Mr.Babu in a press release demanded the state government to buy the paddy crop directly from the farmers through Public Distribution System starting from this kharif season . He said the government should pay an extra Rs 220/- over the minimum price and buy the paddy at Rs 1500 per quintal. He demanded that the state government should set up shops at various centers to make it comfortable for farmers to sell the crop. He also requested the government to disburse loans on paddy crops to farmers and infuse confidence in the farmers.

Signature Campaign to shutdown liquor shops in Rayadurgam

Loksatta Rayadurgam under the leadership of Mr.Babu held a signature campaign to shutdown the three liquor shops close to the vegetable market. Mr.Babu said, having three liquor stores in the close vicinity of the market is causing huge problems to women who frequent the market. He demanded the liquor shops be immediately closed and the lease of the rooms allocated for them in the municipal complex be canceled. He said this agitation will not stop until the government takes firm action in this issue. Loksatta collected around 1000 signatures during this campaign. Mr.Babu will submit an application along with the collected signatures to the Ananthapur Collector.
