Empower local government bodies and panchayats to improve economic status of villages

Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu in a statement demanded that decentralization of power to local bodies is essential for economic progress of rural areas. He said, amendment of the law on decentralization of power to local bodies has been lingering in the parliament since 2003 and no action has been taken. He said local bodies, mandal parishads, panchayats have to be adequately empowered so as to enable the basic necessities like food, and education, employment etc reach the deserving people.

HNSS scheme will eradicate drought in the district

Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu along with District Congress President Patil Venugopal Reddy and other leaders met district collector Durgadas and the Drought committee members and submitted an application. They said that Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti Scheme should be implemented and drinking water should be made available to the people by building canals across from Tungabhadra River. Also various issues concerning the farmers suffering from drought this year have been put forward by many leaders and demanded effective steps to save farmers from impending drought.

Paada Yatra to demand lifting of export sanctions on paddy

Loksatta party president Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan will set out on a paada yatra from Enniganooru in Kurnool district through Mantralayam on Feburary 18th demanding removal of ban on paddy exports. In an open letter addressing  the Chief  Minister Loksatta and FIFA demanded the govt to lift the ban by 17th February or face dire consequences Loksatta team in Rayadurgam along with Federation of Independent farmers’ associations are working on making this campaign a success. LSP Rayadurgam leader and FIFA convener Mr. Babu in a statement called on all the people and farmers to actively participate in the Paada Yatra and make it a success. During the Pada Yatra the paddy will be taken across the state border near Mantralayam and sold there in protest against the ban on exports.

Victory of Loksatta in government hospital campaign

Lok Satta Rayadurgam attained a great victory in their campaign to appoint new doctors, proper infrastructure in the government hospital. MLC doctor Geyanand in a press statement said that all efforts will be made to appoint new doctors and provide basic infrastructure in the hospital as soon as possible. The issue has been taken to the view of Vaidhya Vidhana Parishad (VVP) co-ordinator Ranta Kishore and he promised that immediate action will be taken in this issue.

Raithu Chaitanya Yatra in Kanekal mandal

LSP Rayadurgam under the leadership of Mr.Babu held “Praja Chaitanya Yatra” in Kanekal Mandal as a part of a campaign taking up farmer’s issues. During the campaign the team travelled all over Kanekal including villages like Erragunta, Kothapalli, Malyam, Pulacherla and many other villages and talked to various farmers, educating them on their rights and profitable farming techniques. Mr.Babu demanded that government should remove the ban on exports and allow farmers to sell their crop anywhere they wish. He demanded that government should buy the food grains or have the millers buy the grains at least minimum guarantee price. Mr.Babu called on the farmers to come out for bigger protests if the government doesn’t heed to the demands of the farmers. The campaign has been a huge success with many farmers coming out to support Loksatta party in the protests.

                                   

Loksatta demands setting up of farmers’ emergency fund

Loksatta Rayadurgam leader Mr.Babu demanded that the state government should set up emergency funds to support farmers in times of natural calamities like famines and droughts. He criticized the government for lackadaisical approach in submitting the reports of the situation in state to the center. The people in Ananthapur and other districts are already suffering due to recent famine and government has done nothing yet to placate the suffering farmers. He said there is a drought situation in as many as 876 mandals in state this kharif season and yet the state govt is still to act on it.

Loksatta Rayadurgam celebrates 63rd Republic Day

Loksatta Rayadurgam under the leadership of Mr.Babu celebrated the 63rd Republic Day in Rayadurgam. On this occasion Loksatta held a discussion with students on the role of Youth and students in the national politics and the future of the country. Loksatta party state co-ordinator Omkar was the chief guest to the event. Speaking on the occasion Omkar reiterated the importance of youth coming into politics to bring about a positive change in politics and thereby in the country.

Loksatta Rayadurgam leader Mr.Babu condemned the destruction of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar’s statue in Amalapuram. He demanded that the culprits be booked immediately irrespective of who it is.

Loksatta Rayadurgam will contest the By Elections

Loksatta District coordinator Pannurappa in a press conference said that Loksatta will be contesting the coming by elections with complete force. He criticized the current government the way they handled the drought situation in the district. He said the local ministers have converted the farmers in vote banks and making a mockery of their lives. Loksatta will contest in all positions to bring about a positive change in the district.

Loksatta Rayadurgam celebrates Swamy Vivekananda’s birthday (National Youth Day)

Loksatta Rayadurgam celebrated Swamy Vivekananda’s birthday (National Youth Day) on Jan 12th. LSP leader talking on the occasion called on the youth to take active participation in the politics. He said Youth has the power to change the country and alleviate factors like poverty, corruption and contribute to the all-round development of the country. Loksatta leaders Riaz, Rammohan, Tippe swamy, Aruna and others paid tributes to Swamy Vivekananda and remembered the great work of Vivekananda.



Peaceful campaign for Lokpal and Lokayuktha bills

Loksatta Convener Mr.Babu expressed his disappointment over Lokpal bill not getting passed in the parliament. He reiterated that a strong Lokpal at centre and lokayukthas’ and Ombudsman at state and district level are extremely important in curbing corruption in the country. He asked all leaders to come up apolitically and help implement a strong anti-corruption system in the country. He maintained that Loksatta will continue their peaceful campaign to obtain a strong anti-corruption system.

Praja Chaitanya Yatra in Bommanahal Mandal

Loksatta under the leadership of Mr.Babu held “Praja Chaitanya Yatra” in Bommanahal Mandal as a part of a campaign taking up farmer’s issues. He demanded that government should buy the food grains or have the millers buy the grains at least minimum guarantee price and provide basic support to the farmers in distress.

LSP leader Mr.Babu submits an application to Mahatma Gandhi statue protesting govt negligence on government hospital issues

LSP leader Mr.Babu expressed his disappointment by submitting an application to Mahatma Gandhi statue asking him to bring some sanity into the minds of government officials. He reiterated that even after 3 days of fasting and protests the govt didn’t come forward to solve the issues of the local govt hospital. He said the protests will go on till the govt responds to the issues. Other LSP leaders Abdullah, Riaz, Lokesh, Dadavali and others participated in the protest.

                          

Signature campaign to garner support for solving the issues in local government hospital

Loksatta Rayadurgam held a signature campaign to garner support to pressurize the govt to solve the issues in the government hospital. They toured the whole town going from house to house taking the signatures and garnering the support for the cause. There was a very good response for the campaign and Mr.Babu said they would keep up the pressure until government heeds to their demands.

 

Embezzlement of NREGA funds in the district

Loksatta Rayadurgam leader Mr.Babu in a press statement said that govt officials have been embezzling the NREGA funds which are intended to be used for poor farmers and daily wage laborers. He gave the example of Rs. 1.1 lakh fraud unearthed in the Gurudachedu and Gummagutta mandals. He said the fraud has been happening in many mandals. He demanded the govt should take immediate steps in curbing this corruption and make sure the funds reach their intended recipient.

Loksatta submits an application to the District Collector to take up government hospital issues

Loksatta incharge Mr.Babu submitted an application to District Collector Mr.Durgadas explaining all the issues in the government hospital. He along with some CPI leaders submitted more than 5000 signatures they collected from the people and asked him to take immediate steps to solve the issues He said with over 70,000 population people have been suffering a lot with shortage of doctors and infrastructure in the hopital. Collector Durgadas promised that he would look into the issue and take immediate measures.

                                            

Loksatta demands cancelation of beverage supply tenders

Loksatta leader Mr.Babu submitted an application to the special officer Eswaraiah during the Grievance day held at revenue office in the town. He reiterated that the alcohol suppliers have formed a syndicate and are selling alcohol at much higher prices than the MRP. He also demanded that steps have to be taken to promote anti-drinking campaign in the region educating people of the ill effects of alcoholism. He demanded that the reports submitted by ACB on alcohol supply syndicates must be made public and the properties of perpetrators be seized. He demanded that CM should take a firm stand on this issue and take immediate steps to curb this issue. He along with other women leaders Padma, Peddaka, Sathyamma and many other held a dharna outside the exchange station demanding the government to take firm stand on this issue.

Loksatta Rayadurgam succeed in the fight against Liquor syndicates

Loksatta Rayadurgam gained a significant victory in the fight against liquor syndicates. Vowing to the pressure and campaign by Loksatta Rayadurgam lead by Mr.Babu, The excise station superintendent Satyaprasad in a press statement said that based on the joint committee reports, a decision has been taken that alcohol will be sold at MRP prices moving forward and strict action will be taken against the perpetrators.

“Palle Baata – Raitu Chaitanya Yatra” village tour to meet and address farmers issues

Led by Bommisetti Babu, the LSP Rayadurgam team has undertaken a major “Palle Baata” program to extensively tour several villages in the constituency and meet hundreds farmers. Starting with Rayadurgam mandal, he team listened keenly to the first hand experiences of the farmers and exchanged views on the issues and solutions. Mr. Babu articulated the most pressing problems in the press, demanding action from the Government. The program will continue in following months, with Bommenahal mandal next.

3 day long fast by Mr.Babu to demand appointment of Doctors in the Government Hospital

Loksatta convener Mr.Babu along with CPI leader Imam sat on a 3 day long fast from Nov 26-28, 2011, demanding immediate appointment of Doctors in the government hospital. People have been suffering a great deal due to lack of proper amenities and duty nurses in the hospital. Posts for Gynecologist, Surgeon have been vacant for long time and are causing great inconvenience to the poor. Mr.Babu requested all public representatives to come forward and support the agitation

Demand for strong Lokayuktas in the state
Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu in a press release demanded that Lokayuktas at the state level have to be strengthened to fight corruption. He also demanded that ACB be made an Independent body. He reiterated that many politicians and bureaucrats are using their power to escape punishment due to present laws. He said that structural changes have to be brought in to politics to make everyone accountable.

Dr.JP tours Ananthapur District

Loksatta Party President Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan toured Anathapur to bring together all the farmers suffering from losses due to low crop yields, suffering due to inappropriate prices for their crop yields, suffering due to low rainfall/untimely rains and create awareness about profitable agricultural practices. He visited Maarthadu, Marragutlu, Gaarladinmi, Kothapalli, and Perikacharla Dam villages on his 11 day tour and talked to various farmers on the farmer issues.

Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu inducted as a member of Rashtra Raithu Committee

Loksatta Rayadurgam Convener Mr. Babu has been inducted as a member of Loksatta’s State Farmers Committee (Rashtra Raithu committee). Ananthapur Lokasatta party president Mr. Sridhar on Thursday has announced Mr. B. Babu from Rayadurgam constituency as a part of 11 member Loksatta’s state farmers committee.

 

Demand to declare Ananthapur a Drought affected district

The Head of United Independent Farmer’s Association, Mr. B. Babu has requested the officials to declare Ananthapur district as drought affected to save farmers. Mr. Babu has filed a petition to the Special Officer, Mr. Eshwaraiah at the Grievance held on Monday at the Local Municipality Office. He reiterated that the farmers are suffering from severe debts due to prevailing drought conditions from past 2 years.. Though there have been very frequent farmer suicides due to their severe debts, the Government has shown no concern to address this issue. He has demanded the Government to sanction Rs. 10,000 per hectare, clear-off all the bank loans for the fiscal year 2010-2011 and also sanction a monthly pension of Rs.1000 to old-aged farmers. He also requested to provide a minimum of 9 hour electricity supply each day to the farmers.

 

Village tour by Loksatta on farmer’s problems/issues: Babu

Loksatta party convener B. Babu announced that, from the first week of November, Loksatta party would launch “Village Tour” in all the municipalities. The village tour is to make government provide the Kharif seeds to poor farmers at affordable prices along with the allocation of specific locations to sell them and also provide appropriate facilities that would help motivate farmers

Congress party an opposition to farmers

The Head of United Independent Farmer’s Association, Mr. B. Babu and its members have stated that the present ruling party, the congress is an opposition to farmers and the party’s inability to rule was the primary reason for the dismal situation of many farmers. He demanded the government to provide special packages that helps save famers.

 

Loksatta party forms a Sub-committee on farmer’s movements

In order to solve the problems that are being faced by the farmers and also help launch farmer association movements, the Loksatta party has formed a 11 member sub-committee. The details of the members of the sub-committee are disclosed to the media. The members of the sub-committee include, K. V. Basaveshwara Rao,  Anumol Gandhi (Vijayawada), Edara Gopichand (Narsarao Pet), S. Changalraaya Reddy (Chittoor), Gommisetty Venkata Ramana Babu (Anatapur), D. S. Narayana (Kadapa), S . Raghavulu (Khammam), Marepalli Srinivas Reddy (Miryalaguda), P. Bhaskara Rao (Hyderabad), Aakula Nageshwara Rao (Srikakulam), Kolliparla Sambasiva Rao (Gannavaram). Bhaskara Rao will be acting as an convener for the committee formed.

 

Government postponing Elections for political gains

Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu criticized that the state government is postponing the Municipal and Gram Panchayat Elections for political gains. The municipal elections have been postponed thrice already and the govt is showing no concern to the problems of the people. He, along with other Loksatta party leaders demanded that the elections be held immediately to tackle various problems haunting common people.

Loksatta Rayadurgam celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi. Convener Mr.Babu garlanded Gandhi statutes near tower clock. Leaders from all political parties participated in the event.

Loksatta celebrates 5th Anniversary

Loksatta Rayadurgam celebrated the 5th year of formation of Loksatta party with great aplomb. LSP Rayadirgam convener Mr.Babu hoisted the party flag and kick started the celebrations. He said that unlike other parties who are neck deep in corruption and whose only motivation is to make money through politics, Loksatta party has been working for the people trying to address the issues at the grass roots. He said that all efforts will be made to strengthen Loksatta at the village level with new strategies and ideas keeping in the mind 2014 General elections.

 

Demand state government to support farmers

 Loksatta Rayadurgam convener Mr.Babu demanded that the state government should immediately rescue farmers. There have been no proper rains in the district and the groundnut farmers who have accrued costs from 10,000 to 12,000/- per acre are deep in debt. He said 7 farmers committed suicide in one month and govt should act immediately to help these farmers.
